Smoking Cessation Clinic
The SNUHSC runs the Smoking Cessation Clinic to prevent many diseases caused by smoking and promote the health of all the university members.
- Subject All members of the SNU who want to quit smoking (professors, students, staff members)
- Medical Staff A family medicine doctor (SNU Hospital), a smoking-cessation counselor , a smoking-cessation nurse (SNUHSC)
- Program A six-week program per group
Week Format Contents Location Week 1 Group session - Group education (behavior therapy, smoking-cessation-aid using method, information about smoking cessation medicine, etc.)
- Individual evaluation of nicotine dependency, urine cotinine test, provision of smoking cessation aid, prescription of smoking cessation medicine.clinic office Week 1-6 Individual clinic Individual consultation on smoking cessation and medical treatment, urine cotinine test, provision of smoking cessation aid, prescription of smoking cessation medicine. clinic office - The first-week visit is required. Those who miss the group session cannot participate in the individual clinic session.
- Additional visits after the completion of the six-week program are possible.
- Time
- Every Thursday 2:00pm-5:30pm
- Cost
- Medical consultation, prescription, smoking cessation aids, medical tests: free of charge
- Costs of smoking cessation medicines can be supported by the Korean government (This is applicable
only for those who have the Korean National Health Insurance).
- The SNUHSC has participated in the smoking cessation project supported by the Korean National Health Insurance Corporation since February 2015.
※ SNUHSC won the 2015-2022 excellent institution award for our smoking cessation program.
- When purchasing a smoking cessation medicine prescribed by our clinic, substantial parts of your out-of-pocket payment can be reimbursed from the Korean National Health Insurance Corporation (This is applicable only for those who have the Korean National Health Insurance).

- We will announce each recruiting schedule of the Smoking Cessation Clinic on the SNUHSC website and SNU portal bulletin board.
